Brands that are killing it on social media

You’ve probably seen tons of advertisements and campaigns on almost every social media platform–and admit it or not, there are times when you couldn’t help but check them out. As digital natives, it’s no surprise that social media has become a permanent fixture in a marketer’s toolbox. Technological advancements created a world of convenience where anything is accessible and can be acquired. As the nature of marketing and advertising evolved, companies caught on and quickly stormed social media platforms. Case in point: platforms such as Facebook broadened its services to cater to providers of goods and services by connecting them to consumers. Of course, these virtual operations still require marketing strategies—good ones that can utilize features only a virtual platform can provide. Looking for some good examples?

1. Coca-cola

Does “Share a Coke” ring any bells? If the image of the iconic Coca-cola logo swapped with a name pops in your head, you’re on the right track. This is known as one of the most successful social media campaigns in the history of the company with its Facebook traffic increasing by 870%. The campaign allowed for sales to skyrocket by applying the psychology of connected customization in which consumers are allowed to connect to an experience, permitting the brain to reflect positively on the product and its brand.

2. Nike

With a branding that’s known to promote the mindset of conquering battles, it’s not hard to find a Nike campaign that promotes decorated athletes posed to push audiences and consumers to simply win. However in 2021, Nike launched “Play New”: a campaign designed to tug at the audience’s heartstrings by promoting real people’s failures. Nike called audiences to join in celebrating the flops that lead to trying new things and eventually winning in life—in which they say “That’s how you Play New”.

3. Old Spice

Humor is a great tool when it comes to marketing campaigns, and Old Spice is no stranger to this tactic. Their campaigns prove that when ads hit the right buttons with audiences, online engagement and sales will shoot through the roof. Publicity materials were designed to humor audiences but were kept short and straight to the point, making their content easy to share while maintaining all the buzz and interaction. Our two cents? Their campaigns are the kind that you’d want to search on Youtube so you can laugh about something at some random point in the future.
