
Business Development Director
The Business Development Director identifies new business opportunities, drives client acquisition, focuses on lead generation, nurtures prospects, and prepares proposals. They work with senior leadership to learn services and build client relationships, manage the sales pipeline, and develop strategic partnerships. This role requires understanding digital marketing, proactive client outreach, proposal development, and deal closing, while shaping business strategies and driving revenue growth with senior management.
Scope of Work
Lead business development efforts and drive the acquisition of new clients for the agency.
Build and nurture relationships with potential clients and strategic partners.
Manage the end-to-end sales process, from lead generation to contract negotiation and deal closing.
Roles and Responsibilities
Internal Collaboration
Work closely with account managers, marketing teams, and leadership to ensure alignment on sales strategies and goals.
Participate in brainstorming sessions to identify potential new service offerings and market trends.
Stay up to date with industry trends and competitive landscapes to inform business development strategies.
Client Acquisition & Sales Strategy
Develop and implement strategies to identify and target potential clients in key industries.
Lead client outreach initiatives and engage prospects through a consultative sales approach.
Manage the sales pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up and conversion of prospects into clients.
Proposal Development & Pitching
Lead the creation of custom proposals and presentations, working with internal teams to develop solutions tailored to client needs.
Present proposals to prospective clients, demonstrating the agency’s expertise and service offerings.
Oversee the negotiation of terms and pricing, ensuring both client satisfaction and agency profitability.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with new clients, ensuring a smooth onboarding process and fostering long-term partnerships.
Establish strategic partnerships with other businesses that can enhance the agency’s services or client base.
Attend industry events, conferences, and networking sessions to expand the agency’s presence and generate business opportunities.
Market Research & Insights
Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and new opportunities within the digital marketing space.
Stay informed of competitor activities and industry shifts to inform business development strategies.
Collaborate with leadership to recommend new service offerings and solutions based on market demand.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
Track business development KPIs (leads generated, proposals submitted, deals closed) and provide regular reports to senior management.
Analyze the success of sales initiatives and adjust strategies to optimize results.
Use CRM and sales tracking tools to manage client relationships and ensure a smooth sales process.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
10-12 years of experience in business development or sales, with a strong focus on digital marketing or advertising.
Proven experience in managing high-value client relationships and closing large deals.
Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
In-depth knowledge of digital marketing services and industry trends.
Strong business acumen, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
Ability to manage and mentor a team, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
